The fruits of our labors

Probably the best crop we've been able to harvest so far from our garden are our peppers. We have Anaheim chiles and jalapenos. Our tomatoes have been doing okay--actually they are delicious and full of flavor--just ask the hummingbird who has been eating them all!! I've been able to make some batches of delicious salsa from my fresh chiles and tomatoes.

I had let some of my chiles go a little too long after harvesting without roasting and peeling them, so I dried them instead. This picture is my big string of chiles and jalapenos hanging from our patio door.

These are my chiles that I fire roasted on the grill. The gas grill is the perfect way to roast them. Since I used to try to do it with a lighter back in the day because I didn't have a gas stove or a grill, I am in fire-roasting heaven!

Last but not least, we have the watermelon patch. We have some HUGE watermelons growing. I jumped the gun and picked one.... It was big, as you can see from the 2 liter bottle for scale... but alas, it was BARELY pink inside and not at all ripe...... it actually looks pretty good in the photo, but it was not good.

  1. Ok I need t know your secrets. Our jalapeanos did not produce AT ALL and our Watermelons either. We had a horrible garden. You are just good at everything you do. you are a great homemaker. I really want you to meet my son.
Thanks for the Birthday wish and I hope you feel better.
