Aaron: Aaron has been teaching his usual science stuff, but also taught 6th grade math to make sure they were all up to speed for AIMS. He is giving 150 percent even though the district is kinda freaking everyone out with their "solutions" to the budget issues. I won't go into that since I don't want to get him in any trouble, but dude. Someone needs to consider the teachers and students in the whole budget equation. Aaron has also been working on the following projects around the house: the garden, putting in the shelving system in our office/loft area, wiring the garage for upgraded electric, painting our stairway (I helped with that!), roto-tilling the back yard, putting in watering systems for our garden areas, and I'm sure I've missed a few things. Aaron is the Cubmaster in our ward now (I'm assistant), and he's been doing a lot of things in that field as well.
Leann: I've been working my hiney off at work (I wish literally!), everyone has been passing around this horrible 2 week flu thing that luckily I haven't caught. I have been working on various projects that require meetings with higher-level city people, which is scary but fun. I'm finishing up the semester at GCC, trying to decide where I'm going from here school-wise. I'm officially a professional writer, I've been working with a company that owns a bunch of radio stations in the Lake Havasu area, writing op-ed pieces for their CEO to broadcast, and he's been PAYING me!! Yeah! I also write web copy occasionally, but the point is, I'm making money writing so now I can say I'm a professional writer. :-) I'm no Stephanie Meyer, but hey, it's a start. Ummm, I've been doing a lot of laundry. Not much else in that arena.
The kids: Ira is doing great in guitar, he is learning the Star Spangled Banner and the Duke of Earl. He is all A's and B's in school and has been having a blast with his Cub Scout pack. Pinewood Derby is next week! Joy is a Star Reader in first grade, she read over 170 books this year! She's actually read a lot more, they just didn't get reported to the teacher. Thomas is still plugging away in kindergarten, and he can do flips on the trampoline! He's quite the gymnast. Clayton is in the finishing stages of potty training--he's been accident free during the daytime for 2 weeks now! This means he gets to stay in the "big boy" carseat (the one that uses the car seatbelt instead of the baby one with the separate straps that he can't get out of).
So, the fam is doing well. We have camping planned for this summer, and we are looking forward to that. We can't wait for our watermelons and other garden goodies, but especially the watermelons.
No pictures with this post. The next one (in a few minutes) will be all pictures.
